TIGNES EARNS THE FLOCON VERT LABEL !

Tignes was awarded the FLOCON VERT label on November 25, 2022.

Awarded by the Mountain Riders association, the label Flocon vert recognizes the efforts made over the past few years by local authorities to promote sustainable, social and cultural development.


As the awards were handed out, Mountain Riders reminded the audience that Tignes is known for its inclusive welcome: "I'm thinking in particular of the Snow Pride and, more generally, of the LGBT openness that is fully assumed and cultivated.


Other economic players also have their part to play, such as the micro-hydroelectric plant producing up to 15% of our electricity needs, and a new state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant.


The award of the label Flocon vert is only the first step, and efforts must continue.

A labelling process
The label Flocon vert is first and foremost a continuous improvement process that involves all the players in a given region in the transition to sustainable tourism development in the mountains.
20 criteria evaluated
Committed destinations are assessed on the following aspects: governance, local economy, social and cultural dynamics, sustainable resource management.

Numerous institutional, associative and academic partners support the development of the Flocon vert. Find out more!
3 flake levels
When a destination has been awarded the label and has embarked on a continuous improvement program accompanied by the Green Snowflake, it is awarded the label at levels 1, 2 or 3.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

TIGNES RESORT ACTIONS :

Tignes is building its strategy around a responsible, multi-season tourism offering, preserving its "natural stadium" heritage and reducing its carbon footprint !

Tignes's recent initiatives include :

  • The switch to HVO biofuel for buses, vehicles, snow groomers and the heating in STGM infrastructures

  • The acquisition of electric buses and shuttles

  • The cessation of mountain lighting at Tignes

  • Switch to LED street lighting.

  • An energy-saving plan
